Four people at a boardroom table behind a glass wall, one of them standing to speak.

The work is a year, and then it happens again.

Engagements

Governance is not a project with a completion date. Once it is built, the year has to be held. What you retain is a governance office that holds your governance year, and then holds the next one.

Before any of it there is an assessment, and the five stages it scores you against are published in full.

A small glazed meeting room off an office floor, the table set and nobody yet seated.
The Governance Office

You are not buying software. You are retaining a governance office that happens to run on an instrument we built.

Getting there

Three phases, and then the first governance year begins.

Assess. We score you against the instrument, using your own evidence. You learn where you are on the curve and what is actually blocking the next stage.

Architect. Decision rights, governance bodies, thresholds, the policies that set them, and the calendar they run on. Written as your law rather than as our advice.

Install. Your record is opened, your documents are brought in, your seats are constituted, and your first governed sitting is held with us in the room.

Then we hold the year, and it begins again.

The year

A year, quarter by quarter.

Four sittings attended, the pack assembled and approved before each, four quarterly reports, one reassessment, the registers read on a cycle, and capital requests governed as they arise.

  1. First quarter

    • A board pack, assembled section by section, each section approved by a named person, and published to your portal before the meeting.
    • A quarterly report: score trend, decisions locked, capital activity, review findings, rhythm compliance.
    • One reassessment, against the same standard, so movement is visible rather than asserted.
  2. Second quarter

    • A board pack, assembled, approved section by section, and published.
    • A quarterly report.
    • The policy review cycle, so nothing quietly expires.
  3. Third quarter

    • A board pack, assembled, approved section by section, and published.
    • A quarterly report.
    • The registers read in full: conflicts declared and ruled on, risks rated, owned and reviewed.
  4. Fourth quarter

    • A board pack, assembled, approved section by section, and published.
    • A quarterly report.
    • The Governance Priorities for the coming year, set, ordered and assigned.

Continuously, all year

  • Every decision reviewed as it is locked. Was the authority cited correctly. Was quorum satisfied. Were conflicts screened.
  • The registers maintained as circumstances change.
  • The operating rhythm kept, and its compliance measured, including when the number is unflattering.

As they arise

  • Capital requests governed, each against your own policy.
  • The next generation onboarded as they come of age.
Boundaries

How this differs from a consultancy and from a software licence.

It continues year after year

There is no handover meeting where we wish you luck.

We do the work ourselves

We are in the room at every sitting, and we prepare everything that reaches it.

You are never left alone with the software

The platform is how we work. It is not what we sell you.

Later

Where the relationship can go later.

Some families eventually run entirely on the platform as their system of record. A few license the technology to run it themselves.

Neither is something to decide now.

Where this goes

Approach

Every family is somewhere on the same curve, and most do not know where.

A person reaching a box file down from a tall shelf, in a long aisle of numbered binders.

Platform

The instrument the office runs on.

Beginning

A conversation, then an assessment.
